Game on, reader.

17 Jun

Dear Reader: I’m hoping this blog will help us resolve the whole “You really should write a book” phenomenon that’s plagued me for 10+ years.

I first got assaulted with this entreaty in 2002. A small crew of weekly readers followed my Word file “dispatches” to learn what happened after I chucked a lucrative legal career to join the Peace Corps-Ukraine. And, yeah, I admit — there were some pretty good tales in there; but I don’t think they rise to the “book worthy” level.

The “write a book” chorus got a little louder when I rejoined the legal world in 2005 and started Tweeting as ProBonoChick. And while my pro bono clients (which include Holocaust survivors, U.S. Veterans, asylum seekers, struggling artists, nascent nonprofits, disaster victims, low-income children, and other awesome individuals and organizations) definitely have amazing stories, I’m not comfortable collecting those in book format either.

And last year y’all really got aggressive about the book writing thing when I shared a 12-page story with ~500 of you about how I became a certified ass-kicking medical miracle after I suffered that “little” life threatening skull smashing on my bicycle.

Since I actually do like writing and y’all keep insisting that you like reading it, let’s make a pact: when the blog has over 5,000 subscribers, I will write the damn book.

lol! Given that the 50k mark only needs 136 people to join per day, I’m a little nervous that this actually might push me past the boundaries of my comfort zone.

[…] the voluntarily unemployment plunge (remember, I did this “mid-career sabbatical” thing back in 2002, too, when I shunned law firm partnership in favor of Peace Corps Volunteerism) = still a good deal […]

[…] the beginning (before the brain bashing), and as explained in my very first blog post (HERE) it was to get y’all off my case about the whole “you should write a book” thing. […]
